Tatsuya composed music & sound design for Japanese clothing company Uniqlo’s “Body Tech” TV commercial, which is supposed to be aired on May 27th, 2006. This commercial film introduces three significant functions of this product by featuring three athletes along with state-of-art visual expressions.

ILMやピクサーのドキュメンタリーを観ると、設立当初の奔放な姿勢は影を潜め、巨額の予算と重責から「失敗が許されない構造」へと変貌したことが分かる。失敗の回避は往々にして予定調和を招く。しかし、そうならないために、彼らは小規模なプロジェクトを重ね、意図的に試行錯誤を繰り返しているようだ。大失敗を避けるには、小さな失敗を積み重ねるほかない。創作に限らず、「小さく始めて、小さく、沢山失敗する」ことが前進の秘訣だろう。

「言語化ブーム」への違和感は以前も書いたが、それ以上に「聞く力」や「質問する力」が後回しになっていることが問題だ。会話であれメールであれ、相手の意図を汲み取る前に「どう言語化するか」に走るのは、車輪がないのにエンジンだけを吹かしているようなものだ。自己主張の国である米国ですら、最近は「アクティブ・リスニング」が注目されている。経験から言えば、仕事のトラブルの大半は「聞けていない、飲み込めていない」ことが原因だと思う。

先日、豚を愛でるチャーチルの言葉を紹介したが、対照的にバーナード・ショーは「豚とレスリングをするな。泥まみれになるし、豚はそれを喜ぶからだ」と遺した。豚には大層失礼な話だ。要は「君子危うきに近寄らず」なのだが、SNS全盛の昨今、「反応しない=同じ土俵に乗らずにスルーを貫く」のはさぞ難しいのだろう。ただ、自己顕示欲や承認欲求におぼれる人間とは違って、豚は純粋に泥を楽しんでいるだけだ。やっぱりショーの言葉は豚に失礼だと思う。
