「はい!次はね、〇〇筋をはがしていきまーす!」──いつの頃からか、YouTubeのストレッチやマッサージの動画を見ていると、こんなフレーズを耳にすることが多くなった。「はがす」って何だ?「ほぐす」とは違うらしいが、僕が時折お世話になる整形外科医の方たちから、このフレーズを聞いたことはない。「筋膜リリース」という言葉が少し前に日本で流行っていたことすら知らなかったが、健康に関しては特に、流行や噂話を知らない方が健康でいられるかもしれない。

アメリカは利下げ、日本は利上げと誰もが神経を尖らせているが、本来大事なのは、労働者一人一人や個々の企業が付加価値や生産性を高めることなのに、それよりも中央銀行の動きが世の中の指針を決めるかのような錯覚に囚われている。企業の業績よりも、中央銀行の一言やマネタリー・オペレーションで株価や市場心理が大きく揺らぐような経済状況は健全ではない。社会が「頑張りがいのある」場所であるように「陰で」支えるのが、政治家や役人の仕事。
