In what types of media projects can music from Model Electronic Records be used?

Music owned and released by Model Electronic Records can be used in a wide range of professional media projects. Under the label’s hybrid licensing model, usage falls into two categories.

A. Broadcast & Streaming Programs (Covered by PRO Licenses)

Applicable to:

  • Television programming (news, factual, variety, reality, documentaries, drama, etc.)
  • Radio programming
  • Streaming programs where PRO blanket licenses apply (long-form, episodic, AVOD/SVOD)

If your organization already holds a PRO blanket license (ASCAP, BMI, PRS, JASRAC, KOMCA, UBC, etc.), you may use our music without contacting us. Usage should be reported to your local PRO according to standard procedures (cue sheets, broadcast logs).

No sync license is required for legitimate broadcasters under PRO coverage.

Note: Original content produced exclusively for global subscription platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, Apple TV+ is generally not considered broadcast and typically requires a direct sync license, even when similar in format to television programming.

B. Commercial, Branded, and High-Visibility Uses (Sync License Required)

Applicable to:

  • TV and online advertising campaigns
  • Film trailers and promotional materials
  • Corporate videos, branded content, marketing media
  • Video games and software
  • Websites, apps, installations, product videos
  • Theatrical presentations, events
  • Monetized YouTube or social-platform videos

These uses require a direct synchronization license from Model Electronic Records. Both sync rights and master use rights are cleared through a one-stop process.

C. Other Uses (Case-by-case Clearance)

Applicable to:

  • Public spaces (retail, exhibitions, events)
  • Audio-only projects
  • Compilation albums
  • Ringtones
  • Non-standard or hybrid uses

Model Electronic Records reviews these requests individually to ensure proper rights handling.

For detailed guidance and examples, please refer to: Licensing Our Music – Full Guide

Which releases from Model Electronic Records are available as one-stop licenses?

All music created and distributed by Model Electronic Records is:

  • Registered with PRO/MRO societies for performance and mechanical rights
  • Fully controlled on the master side
  • Eligible for one-stop clearance for sync licensing

For broadcast usage, only a valid PRO blanket license is required; no further approval from Model Electronic Records is necessary.

You can explore the Model Electronic Records catalog in two ways, depending on your needs:

  • Public releases (streaming & downloads):
All commercially released albums and singles from Model Electronic Records are available here:
Model Electronic Records – Public Releases and Playlists
  • Professional-use library (alt mixes, stems, production-only releases):
Editors, producers, and supervisors can access additional materials via our curated library on DISCO:
Model Electronic Records – Library on DISCO.ac

These two resources cover all works eligible for one-stop clearance.

Where can I access metadata for works released by Model Electronic Records?

Metadata for our catalog (including ISRCs, work registration IDs, cue sheet information, and release details) is not publicly listed. This is to ensure accuracy and to keep the information available only to those who need it for professional use.

If you require metadata for broadcast, production, or licensing purposes,
please contact us via the form on this website.
We will provide access to our metadata spreadsheet, which contains all necessary information for editorial and cue sheet workflows.

This ensures that supervisors, editors, and broadcasters always receive the latest and most accurate data.

Does Model Electronic Records offer custom edits or alternate versions?

Yes. Custom edits, cutdowns, and additional production services may be offered upon request. These services incur additional fees.

Model Electronic Records also provides a wide selection of existing mixes, stems, and alternate versions that may meet production requirements such as budgets.

Does Model Electronic Records offer a public rate card?

No. Because licensing costs depend on usage type, territory, media, duration, exclusivity, and other project variables, Model Electronic Records does not publish a generalized rate card.

Sync licensing prices are determined to reflect:

  • The creative value of the music
  • Industry norms
  • The scope of the project
  • Long-term professional relationships

Broadcast uses are governed by PRO blanket licenses, not by rate negotiation.

For Commercial Licensing (Sync Users)

Can music from Model Electronic Records be used in monetized YouTube videos?

Yes — however, monetized online videos on YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Twitch, etc. are classified as commercial uses.

Therefore:

  • A sync license is required prior to uploading
  • A license fee applies
  • Model Electronic Records does not license catalog tracks for extremely low-budget projects (e.g., under USD 100)

For broadcast-style long-form programming on YouTube made by professional studios, please contact Model Electronic Records so the label can determine whether the usage is considered broadcast (PRO) or commercial (sync).

Can recordings from Model Electronic Records be sampled for new songs or beats?

Generally, no. To avoid legal complexity and potential disputes, Model Electronic Records does not permit sampling of its master recordings.

This includes:

  • Sampling any portion of the label’s tracks
  • Creating remixes without authorization
  • Adding new vocals or rap over existing masters
  • Any derivative act based on the original recordings

Rare exceptions may be considered only through experienced A&R teams and legal representatives.

Unauthorized sampling constitutes copyright infringement.

Can a licensing agent represent the catalog of Model Electronic Records non-exclusively?

Model Electronic Records may consider proposals for non-exclusive sync representation in specific territories.
Such arrangements must be professional, appropriate, and strictly non-exclusive.

The label does not enter exclusive publishing or sub-publishing agreements.

For General / Non-Commercial Users

Is music from Model Electronic Records available for personal, private, or non-commercial videos?

No. Model Electronic Records provides licenses exclusively for professional, budgeted productions.

Licenses cannot be issued for:

  • Personal or private videos
  • Student films or academic assignments
  • Non-profit, volunteer, or charity projects
  • Non-monetized personal uploads on social platforms

However, an exception applies when videos are created directly within platforms that provide officially licensed music libraries (e.g., TikTok, Instagram Reels).
In these cases, users may use our music without contacting us, subject to the platform’s own terms.

See the next question for details.

Can music from Model Electronic Records be used in TikTok / Instagram Reels / Facebook videos?

Special Case: Platform Music Libraries (TikTok / Instagram / Facebook)

Our music is officially available in the music libraries provided by TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Facebook. On these platforms, users may use our music without contacting us, as long as the project is created within the platform and follows the platform’s own licensing framework.

This applies to:

  • TikTok videos
  • Instagram Reels / Facebook Reels / Facebook Sound Collection
  • In-platform promotional use under standard platform terms

Please note:

  • Using our music in videos created outside the platform and uploaded later (e.g., commercial YouTube uploads, agency-produced ads, event videos, corporate branding) requires a direct sync license.
  • YouTube does not provide licensed access to our music through YouTube Music; using our music in monetized YouTube uploads requires a sync license.
