Dark Model’s “Requiem for an Angel” was licensed and used in Oakley (US)’s “Beyond Reason featuring Craig Alexander” campaign. Craig Alexander is an Australian triathlete who is the 2008, 2009 & 2011 Ironman Triathlon World Champion.

“Requiem for an Angel” was included in Dark Model’s mini album “Yami.”

イギリスのダンスミュージックは、最新曲であっても、90年代レイヴの遺伝子を色濃く引きずっている。そんなことを考えていたら、90年代末にDJをしたロンドンのクラブ「Turnmills」のことをふと思い出した。土曜朝の名物「Trade」の直前に行われていた「Headstart」というパーティだったはずだ。六本木のレコ屋に入るのに躊躇していた学生が、その10年後には欧州からアジアまでDJで飛び回っていたのだから、人生は、動いた分だけ偶然が増える。

アートが真に社会を揺るがすのは、作者が社会への影響をコントロールしようとしたり、メッセージを伝えるためにアートを「手段化」した時ではない。作者自身の個人的で純粋な衝動を突き詰めた結果、それが結果的に社会のバグや本質を映し出してしまった時だと思う。確かに、気候変動や格差問題といった大義名分を謳(うた)えば助成金は得やすいかもしれない。しかし、それではアートの純度や質を損なってしまう恐れがある。
