最近はニュースを見る機会を最小限に絞っている。誰に対しても何の意見も持たないくらい無関心になりたいのだが、「究極の無関心と鋼のメンタリティ」の領域にはまだ遠い。そんなことを考えていて、ふと『ザ・デイリー・ショー』のジョン・スチュアートを思い出した。彼のトークは今も天才的で、かつてのように思慮深い。けれど、アメリカと世界があまりに冷え切ってしまった今では、そのジョークの背後にも、「もはや打つ手なし」という虚しさが漂ってきてしまう。

昔、バンドがライブで自曲を演奏する際、加齢と共にテンポが落ちていくのを見て、どこか寂しさを感じたものだ。ダンスミュージックはBPMで細かくジャンルが分かれるため、「遅い曲を作り出したら加齢の証だ」(笑)と一概には言えない。だが「速い曲を聴くのがしんどい」と感じたら、それは何かのサインかもしれない。幸い僕は今のところそういう現象とは無縁で、ここ最近BPM128以上の曲を集中的に作っている。

かつて英文を書く際は、Grammarlyという文法チェッカーを愛用していた。だが数年前、AI機能が大幅に導入されて以降、自分の文章が「誰が書いても同じになる無個性なテンプレ」へ誘導されている気がして、利用を控えるようになった。LinkedIn等でも、”innovative”とか”visionary”、”passionate leader”といった、似た形容詞が並ぶ定型文をよく目にする。AIが作った「完璧すぎるCV」をAIがジャッジするなんて、妙な時代になったものだ。
