AI 特集の番組で、タモリさんが 「人間性(を賛美すること)そのものが胡散臭い」と語っていた。案の定、出演者の誰もその発言の真意を確かめようとしなかった。ヴィクトール・フランクルは「過剰自己観察」という言葉で、自意識過剰がもたらす心身の疲労や機能不全を説明したが、人は「自分の前に鏡を置き、自分のことばかり考える」傾向がある。AIと人間のやり取りは、まさにこの「自己観察(言語化)の無限ループ」に陥る可能性をはらんでいる。

布団にくるまり、何か映画でも見ようと思う。幸か不幸か、ジャン・リュック・ゴダールのドキュメンタリーに出会ってしまった。彼は時間芸術、とりわけ王道的な映画が持つ「物語性」を破壊することで革命と混乱を起こした。「物語を信じない」と斬り、自分の人生から作品に至るまで偶然や断片という眼差しで解体したのが、デヴィッド・ボウイだ。世界はいつしか物語まみれの時代に戻り、アルゴリズムに翻弄され、空虚な「辻褄合わせ」に躍起になっている。

エドワード・サイードの代表的著書『オリエンタリズム』で、彼は西欧諸国がつくりあげた東洋へのイメージや偏見を徹底的に批判した。彼自身は複雑でパッチワーク的なアイデンティティーの持ち主であり、自らを「アウト・オブ・プレイス(場違い、部外者)」と定義している。考えようによっては(西洋に追随し帝国主義に走った)日本も「場違いな東洋」だろう。「場違いの国に生まれた場違い」として(笑)、僕は彼の主張に一筋の光を感じる。
