Album Description

In Dark Model’s “Impulse,” Tatsuya displayed his new direction, trying to incorporate his influences, such as prog rock and contemporary music, into up-to-date electronic sound. While this album, under the moniker of OE, has common ground with “Impulse,” compared to its epicness, “Compositions in Blue” feels more sophisticated and delicate. “Mobius,” which opens the album, is a dance track featuring female spell-like chants and rhythmic handclaps. “Reincarnation,” a larger-than-life tune with elegant orchestration and choir, is reminiscent of Tatsuya’s compositions as Dark Model. “Doublespeak” and “Circularity Part 1 & 2” may be the album’s best part and embodiment of OE’s minimalist style. Some compositions in contemporary music distance or bore listeners with their stiffness and monotony. On the other hand, these tracks, with catchy melodies and colorful song structures, successfully bring them into a wonderland of rhythmic and tricky sounds.
