In 2024, Tatsuya Oe, who previously released ambient works such as “Starry Messenger” and “Seisei Ruten,” as well as the early techno compilation “Early Techno Works 9697” under the OE alias, has now released a contemporary electronic album, which is the mainstream style for this alias. While inheriting the minimalist and progressive approach showcased in last year’s “Compositions in Blue,” this new work features more groovy and rhythmical tracks, resulting in a vibrant and dynamic album.

Album Description
This work is a contemporary electronic album composed with the concept of the interplay between ‘light and shadow,’ while drawing on the minimalistic elements and progressive direction showcased in last year’s “Compositions in Blue.” The track selection spans from bright and pop-infused melodies with choir introductions to melancholic and groovy tunes.
The opening track, ‘Breakout,’ is a thrilling instrumental that interweaves Oe’s characteristic funkiness with minimalism. Tracks like ‘Sky High’ and ‘Neo Metropolis’ weave female choir vocals and piano arpeggios into futuristic electronic funk. ‘The River Flows On,’ ‘Coast to Coast,’ and ‘Chapel Song’ immerse the listener with repetitive phrases and groovy bass and drums, serving as the ‘shadow’ in a sense. Finally, ‘Rejoice’ combines influences from Baroque music with funky rhythms, carried by a choir (or chant) that uplifts the mood.
