感情を鍵盤に叩きつけるような、パーカッシブで荒っぽいピアノが大好きだ。ジャズならマッコイ・タイナー、そしてインディロックではベン・フォールズの演奏を時々猛烈に聴きたくなる。ピアノに限らず僕は、正確さよりもダイナミックさに惹かれるところがある。大学に入りたての頃、ファンカデリックのようなバンドをやりたくて幾つか音楽サークルを訪問したら、ユーミンのカバーをしていた上級生が「君、ピッキングが荒いね」。大学で音楽仲間を探すのはお門違いだった(笑)。

(2/2) そして、その「(一神教的な文明にある)西洋人が最も難解に感じる世界」は、実は我々東洋人にとってはこうした難解な本を読まずとも「さらっと肌で感じられる」世界だったりする。彼が「無門関」など、禅の公案をいくつも紹介しているのは決して偶然ではない。僕も日々LLMを活用しているが、「言語化の自己ループ」を飛び出て「不思議の環」に到達する人間の知能は、AIが設計する知能とは全く違うということを忘れずに、AIと向き合いたい。

(1/2) その昔「だまし絵」のエッシャーについて書かれた本を色々読んだ時期があった。『ゲーデル、エッシャー、バッハ―あるいは不思議の環』は今でも読み継がれている名著で、現在のAIの設計にも影響を与えたであろう「自己言及」について深堀りしている。ただ、著者が本当に模索していたのは、ここでは説明しきれていない(そして今のAI開発者が見落としがちな)『非言語的な混沌(カオス)の世界』に対する人間の認知の仕組みではなかったかと思う。
