Tatsuya will join Sync Summit Hollywood as a panelist on Dec 4th, 2013.

Tatsuya was invited and will participate as a panelist in Sync Summit Hollywood, which will be held on Day 1 – December 4th.

About Sync Summit

Sync Summit is a high-level, focused networking event where top music supervisors, heads of music in visual and interactive media (TV, film, video games, advertising, the internet and mobile), label executives, publishers, music libraries, composers, artists, technologists, legal, accounting, brand managers and service providers gather for two days of discussion, networking and dealmaking.

Sync Summit is designed to be a different kind of conference – not a mere pitchfest where the connections made are soon forgotten or not followed up, or a general glossing over of the music in media market. 僕は動物を飼ったことがないが、子豚に関しては本気で飼いたいと思っていた時期がある。人間や羊、犬など身近な哺乳類には群れる習性があるが、実は種全体で見れば単独行動派が大半らしい。また、集団の作り方も動物によって千差万別だ。かつてチャーチルは「私は豚が好きだ。犬は我々を見上げ、猫は我々を見下すが、豚は我々を対等に扱ってくれる」と語ったという。その言葉が真実なのか、いつか豚に直接聞けたらと思っている。

パンチの効いたビートやボーカルを作る際、アタックにTR-808のハイハットやホワイトノイズを薄く重ねると、キックやスネアの解像度が劇的に上がることがある。ハット特有の鋭い「チッ」という音には、10k〜16kHz付近の非常に純度の高いエネルギーが含まれているからだ(単体で聴くとキツイ)。この帯域を超えると人間には聞こえない「超音波」の領域に入るが、犬にとってはここからが本番の可聴範囲となる。犬笛を眺めながら、そんな音の境界線に思いをはせる。

ハリウッド映画界には「Temp Love」という用語がある。制作が猛烈なスピードで進むため、最終的な劇伴が完成するまで、映像には多くの「仮の音楽」が当てられる。有名曲等が使われると、監督はその曲に執着し、作曲家に酷似した曲を求めてしまう。この「仮の音楽への執着とプレッシャー」への対応に苦心する作曲家は多いようだ。僕の既存曲が映像に使われるのは歓迎だけど、あえて書き下ろしの仕事を請けないのは、こうした風潮も理由の一つかもしれない。
